Employer Workforce Toolkit: Energy Efficiency (NYC Edition): NYCETC and we are thrilled to announce the official launch of our toolkit! Informed by more than 22 hours of employer convenings, this practical resource covers three high-demand entry-level roles — Junior Energy Auditor, Project Coordinator, and Junior Field Technician — complete with ready-to-use hiring guides, job descriptions, onboarding checklists, and more.

Wrapping Up the 2nd Cohort of the NYPA CECC Program: We're closing out an exciting second cohort of Clean Energy Career Connect (CECC), funded by the New York Power Authority (NYPA), and we're grateful to NYPA and our partners at Henry Street Settlement for their continued support.

Launchpad Exchange — Energy Efficiency in NYC: On July 30th, we hosted the first session of the Launchpad Exchange — a new bi-monthly alumni engagement series — featuring speakers from NYSERDA, NYCEDC, and the Association for Energy Affordability, with a deep dive into energy efficiency and building decarbonization trends.

Updated Wraparound Support Database: Our NYC Wraparound Services Resource has a new format designed to make finding and referencing support services faster and easier than ever! The database is now organized across four pathways: a statewide Service Dashboard; a full Service Directory; a By Service Category view; and a By Service Territory breakdown. Whether you're a job seeker, workforce provider, or funder, there's a pathway built for how you work.
Train-the-Trainer Cohort 1 Launch: We officially kicked off the inaugural cohort of our Train-the-Trainer for Clean Energy Career Exploration program! Designed exclusively for Accelerator alumni, this pilot certifies workforce professionals to deliver our Clean Energy Career Exploration curriculum within their own organizations. Over the coming weeks, participants will receive ready-to-use lesson plans, slide decks, facilitator guides, classroom activities, and career exploration tools to help bring structured, employer-informed career exploration to the communities they serve.
We’re Hiring!: The Green Launchpad is growing, and we're excited to announce two new opportunities to join our team. We're looking for a Program Manager to lead day-to-day program delivery and operations, as well as a Building Decarbonization Curriculum Developer and/or Instructor to help design and deliver practical training for multifamily building decision-makers. We’re continuing series exploring Policy & Nonprofit Careers in Clean Energy— a diverse set of roles that help shape, advance, and implement the policies, programs, and partnerships driving the clean energy transition. From advocacy and public policy to community engagement, research, and program implementation, these careers are essential to accelerating equitable clean energy adoption across sectors. These roles are cross-cutting, supporting progress across all four sectors of The Green Launchpad's Clean Energy Framework.

This is the bridge-builder of the clean energy world — someone who connects utilities, nonprofits, and community organizations to the people who need them most, whether that's energy savings programs, weather resilience initiatives, or workforce training opportunities. Strong communicators with deep community ties and a knack for strategic thinking will thrive here.
Energy Advisor
If you love problem-solving and want to make a tangible impact on how homes and businesses use energy, this role puts you in the field auditing buildings, identifying inefficiencies, and guiding clients toward greener solutions. A high school diploma can get you started, and certifications can help you stand out — making this a great entry point into the green economy.

NYCEDC Gets New Leadership: Mayor Mamdani has appointed Anthony Shorris as President & CEO of the New York City Economic Development Corporation, bringing over 40 years of public and private sector experience — including roles as First Deputy Mayor and Executive Director of the Port Authority. Lina Khan, former FTC Chair and Columbia Law professor, has been appointed as the new EDC Board Chair.
A National Alliance for Skilled Trades: BlackRock, Carhartt, Ford, and Google have joined forces to launch the Alliance for America's Skilled Trades, targeting the projected 2.1 million unfilled skilled trades jobs by 2030. The Alliance will expand apprenticeship pipelines, fund a national Skilled Trades Report with Burning Glass Institute and Jobs for the Future, and launch training across 30 states — with plans to grow. For a green workforce community like ours, this is a timely signal that the trades are having a national moment.
CEWD’s Updated Energy Career Pathway Flyers: The Center for Energy Workforce Development has refreshed its “Get Into Energy Career Pathway Flyers,” now featuring 50+ pathways across skilled trades, engineering, technology, operations, and more — ready to use at career fairs, classroom visits, and community outreach events. These print- and digital-friendly resources are a great tool for educators, counselors, and workforce partners looking to open up the energy career conversation.

$8 Million Available for Advanced Fuels & Thermal Energy Innovation: NYSERDA has opened applications for $8M in funding to develop low-carbon fuels like clean hydrogen and ammonia — a signal that hard-to-electrify sectors such as heavy-duty transportation and industrial manufacturing are becoming serious frontiers for workforce growth and technical training in New York.
NY Becomes First State to Impose Moratorium on Hyperscale Data Centers: Governor Hochul's executive order puts a one-year pause on new environmental permits for data centers drawing 50+ megawatts, while launching the 'Energize NY' proceeding to ensure these facilities fund their own clean power rather than shifting costs to ratepayers. For green workforce professionals, this move signals a coming surge in demand for clean energy generation, grid management, and energy policy expertise tied to the tech sector.
Draft 2026 Clean Energy Standard Biennial Review Open for Public Comment: DPS and NYSERDA have released their third review of New York's Clean Energy Standard, documenting both progress and gaps on the path to 70% renewable energy by 2030 and zero-emission electricity by 2040. Workforce advocates and green economy professionals are encouraged to weigh in — the comment process is a direct opportunity to shape policies that drive equitable hiring, training, and job creation across the clean energy sector.
